Fabrizio Romano has reported that Son Heung-min talks over a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur are still ongoing with the club confident that a deal can be done.

Romano tweeted that a deal was now thought to be close between the two parties:

At the beginning of 2021, it had been thought that Son was close to signing a new contract with Spurs but some five months down the road and no deal has been concluded. Rumours of Harry Kane wanting to leave the North London club have left fans nervous over another of their star players possibly wanting away from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this summer.
Progress
Romano has now stated that the talks have progressed in the last few days and Son’s representatives are continuing dialogue to reach a solution as soon as possible.
Son signing a new deal would be a boost to Spurs and show that their stars are still willing to stay and fight for future success that has for so long eluded them.
Son Heung-min Essential to Spurs Future
Son had another good season from a personal point of view despite the struggles of the team to win trophies and failure to qualify for the Champions League for a second successive season. Son made 51 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 17 assists and tying him to a new deal will be seen as an essential part of Spurs’ next chapter.
Potential New Manager
Antonio Conte has reportedly held positive talks with Daniel Levy and is considering becoming the new manager to replace Jose Mourinho whom was sacked over six weeks ago just five days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City which Spurs ultimately lost 1-0. The new manager will be keen to keep Son at the club.
