Chelsea Manager Emma Hayes Closing in on New Contract

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes is near to signing a contract extension according to Tom Garry of The Telegraph. The four-time Women’s Super League winner was expected to put pen to paper earlier in the season, but the relentlessness of fixtures in recent months has seemingly delayed the process.

Another Successful Season for Chelsea Manager Emma Hayes

A convincing 5-0 win over Reading on the final day of the season confirmed a third title in four years for Hayes’ side. The Blues spent the majority of 2021 battling it out with Manchester City for Super League glory, but a total of 57 points from 22 games gave Chelsea the edge and the eventual title.

Completing a domestic double, Hayes’ side also reigned supreme in this year’s League Cup. A scintillating 6-0 win against Bristol City in the final secured a second successive League Cup trophy for the West London club. Chelsea are in with a shout for FA Cup success too with The Blues in the fifth round, and as expected, are a fancied outfit.

Up Until Sunday 16, the quadruple was a real possibility for Hayes. Chelsea became the first English side to reach the Champions League final in 14 years but faced a ruthless Barcelona side who recorded a convincing 4-0 victory.

The Future Remains Bright in West London

Hayes has been in charge of Chelsea since 2012 and will surpass the ten-year mark with a signed contract. The club have continued to back her throughout the years and Hayes has in return, delivered success year after year.

Undoubtedly, the expectations will remain as high as they have been in recent years from a domestic point of view, and given Chelsea’s route to the Champions League final, ambitions for European glory will be just as high.
