Duo Lead Race for Midfielder

A number of clubs have been reported to be interested in the former Norwich City man, including Bristol City and QPR. But Last Word on Football can report that Derby County and Birmingham City have a strong interest in the versatile midfielder.

The Telegraph (via Birmingham Mail) reported in January that Derby County and Birmingham City were also tracking the midfielder’s status and sources have told us that they continue to have a substantial interest in the 28-year-old heading into the summer transfer window.

Pritchard was one of nine players announced to be leaving by Huddersfield Town on Tuesday (May 11). It means the midfielder, who has missed a large chunk of this season through injury, will become a free agent.

Opportunities have been limited for Pritchard and his time in Yorkshire has been well below par. He has scored just three league goals in 80 games since signing from Norwich City in 2018.

According to Bristol Live, Pritchard was a target for Bristol City in January with the Terriers hoping to receive a fee for the midfielder. A move failed to materialise however but, despite Nigel Pearson since taking the reins as manager, they claim that interest in Alex Pritchard continues from the Robins.

Pritchard has also been linked to a reunion with Mark Warburton, having performed well under the now-QPR boss when together at Brentford in 2014/15. That season he received the club’s Player of the Year award and was included in the PFA Championship Team of the Season.
