Fantasy Premier League Captaincy Dilemma: Gameweek 25

Fantasy Premier League captaincy dilemma is one of the most difficult ones to crack. Leeds United and Southampton have two matches in gameweek 25. So, a captain should be chosen from one of their players. However, it is not easy at all to pick the best option. Let’s find out the possible options for the armband. Don’t forget, the deadline is on Friday night this week.

Fantasy Premier League Captaincy: The Options

Patrick Bamford, Raphinha, Danny Ings and Bruno Fernandes are the possible captaincy picks this week. Let’s look into the picks in details.

Patrick Bamford

  • Goals: 12
  • Assists: 8
  • FPL Points: 132
  • FPL points in the last five matches: 29
  • Price: £6.9
  • Opponents: Wolves (away) and Southampton (home)

Patrick Bamford is probably the best captaincy option this week. He can be very frustrating to watch at times as he tends to miss a lot of easy chances. However, he has managed to find the net 12 times already this season. The way Leeds United play has suited Bamford. The two opponents he will face this gameweek are both quite leaky in defence, so it is quite reasonable to expect a couple of goals or even more from Bamford this week.

Raphinha

  • Goals: 4
  • Assists: 6
  • FPL Points: 80
  • FPL points in the last five matches: 38
  • Price: £5.4
  • Opponents: Wolves (away) and Southampton (home)

As one can see, Raphinha is in great form. He has scored 38 points in the last five matches which is nine more than Bamford. He has returned attacking points in each of those matches as well. So, giving him the captaincy is not a bad option at all. It is quite tough to choose between him and Bamford. The only thing going for Bamford is that he takes penalties as well. However, it is a very close call.

Danny Ings

  • Goals: 8
  • Assists: 3
  • FPL Points: 89
  • FPL points in the last five matches: 16
  • Price: £8.5
  • Opponents: Chelsea (home) and Leeds United (away)

Danny Ings is a top-quality striker. He scored 22 goals last season and, despite missing quite a few matches through injury, has scored eight goals this season. Ings can score against anyone and at any moment. Southampton are in terrible form and have lost each of their last six league matches. However, they are bound to break that run at some point and Ings is likely to be the man that helps them do it.

Chelsea have been rock solid under Thomas Tuchel and it might be a very tough game for Ings but the Leeds match could provide him with opportunities. Those who love to gamble can give the armband to Ings. Leeds United have collapsed in some matches this season and the Saints do have the speed and quality to hit them on the counter. So, the temptation is there for sure to captain Ings.

Bruno Fernandes

  • Goals: 14
  • Assists: 11
  • FPL Points: 178
  • FPL points in the last five matches: 38
  • Price: £11.6
  • Opponents: Newcastle United (home)

Bruno Fernandes is once again the standout pick from the single gamers. A big score is possible. Despite having one game, he could still outscore everyone else. This is because that one match is against one of the worst sides in the Premier League in Newcastle United. Fernandes scored 11 points against them earlier in the season as well. However, as Manchester United played in the Europa League on Thursday night, fatigue could play a factor.

Fantasy Premier League Captaincy: The Last Word

It is probably best to choose between Bamford and Raphinha for the armband. Their fixtures are the best and there is no risk of rotation unless one of them gets injured.
