Carly Telford Signs New Contract Extension at Chelsea

Carly Telford in Her Second Spell at Chelsea

Telford has made 75 appearances for the Blues and is set to branch out into coaching as of next season, taking a part-time role to assist in the development of the club’s U16 and U18 teams.

The shot-stopper is in her second spell at the club, after re-joining in May 2017 following her initial period at the club between 2011 and 2013.

She told chelseafc.com: “I’m extremely happy. I think it’s important at my age to know that I’ve still got something to give to a club like Chelsea but also for the club to feel like they still value me.

“This club has been amazing for me personally and to be around such a quality team and group of girls is amazing.

“It’s an honour to come to work every day and long may it continue for the next year or so.”

Great Experience in the Women’s Game

General manager Paul Green added: “We’re delighted to have Carly not only sign a new contract but also begin her professional coaching journey here at Chelsea from next season.

“She still has a lot to give on the pitch as a player, but alongside that, Emma [Hayes] and our staff are really looking forward to helping her coaching develop.

“Carly has great experience in the women’s game and will now be able to share those experiences as she looks to develop our young goalkeepers at the club.”

Won a Range of Honours

The 33-year-old has won a range of honours during her time in west London, after winning the Women’s Super League twice, along with the FA Women’s Cup and the Continental League Cup.

She has won 23 England caps and been a part of three World Cup squads for the Lionesses.
