Teams that Play Twice

Manchester City, Burnley, Everton and Fulham play twice this gameweek. Even though it is tempting to bring players from these sides in, one has to consider the fitness issues. Quite a few players are injury worries at the moment.

Goalkeepers

Nick Pope is without a doubt the best goalkeeper this week on paper. The Clarets have two clean sheet opportunities this week. They travel to South London to take on a Crystal Palace side that is likely to be without their talisman Wilfried Zaha. Then, they take on Fulham at home.

So, it is quite possible for Pope to keep two clean sheets this week. The chances of a bonus point or two in a low-scoring, clean sheet game are great as well.

Emiliano Martínez kept yet another clean sheet last week. The Argentine remains the best keeper this season on FPL. He has a decent chance to keep another clean sheet this week.

Defenders

João CanceloJohn Stones and Rúben Dias remain hot picks this season. Dias missed the FA Cup game with illness so one needs to keep an eye out for team news ahead of the weekend’s game.

From the teams with two games, Lucas Digne and Ben Mee must be considered. The Everton fullback was taken off after 107 minutes in the FA Cup win on Wednesday night. Once again team news will be crucial.

For those in need of a cheap option, Matthew Lowton could just be the solution. He is likely to start both matches and could profit from two clean sheets.

Luke Shaw has been pretty good recently. He has produced three assists in the last couple of matches. Shaw is taking set-pieces as well. Against struggling West Brom, he could do really well indeed.

Aaron Cresswell is a good pick also. He has made eight assists so far this season and has a nice home game against Sheffield United this week.

With Chelsea looking solid at the back, getting one of their defenders in could be a decent idea. Antonio Rüdiger seems to be in favour these days.

Midfielders

Ilkay Gündogan is in absolutely brilliant form. He scored twice at Anfield last week despite missing a penalty. The German has already scored an amazing total of nine goals this season. Raheem Sterling is a great option as well. Bernardo SilvaPhil Foden and Riyad Mahrez are at risk of rotation. However, Foden was rested for the FA Cup game so he should be good for one start at least. City’s fixtures are not easy at all this week so one should not expect a flurry of goals. Gündogan is probably the best bet for the armband this week.

Bruno Fernandes is the standout pick from the single gamers. Manchester United will be fancied to do well against struggling West Bromwich Albion. Bruno’s away record is amazing as well. Despite having only one game, Bruno could be a worthwhile captaincy option.

None of the midfield options from the other double gamers look interesting. Maybe one could take a punt on Ademola Lookman or Gylfi Sigurdsson.

From Chelsea, Mason Mount could be a great option at a mid-range price. He has silenced his doubters with great performances under the new coach as well.

Strikers

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was taken off after 55 minutes in the FA Cup with a hamstring issue. His injury has become a major talking point in the FPL community. If Calvert-Lewin is out for long, finding his replacement would be very tough. Richarlison scored twice against Tottenham Hotspur but has not scored that many otherwise. Joshua King might get a start.

Edinson Cavani could be a great punt. The Uruguayan was benched in the FA Cup and should replace Anthony Martial on Sunday.

Michail Antonio has a great fixture this week. However, his fitness issues remain a worrying factor for FPL managers.

With Chris Wood likely to miss out, one could take a punt on Ashley Barnes. Burnley do not score a lot of goals but as the designated penalty-taker Barnes is probably their best bet. There really is a dearth of mid-range strikers at the moment with Callum Wilson also out with injury.
