Neymar to Miss Champions League Tie Against Barcelona

Neymar Barcelona

Following an injury in the French Cup against Caen, Neymar is set to miss the Champions League game against Barcelona in the upcoming week.

The news deals Paris Saint-Germain a major blow as they look to exact revenge on a Barcelona side who once completed one of the most famous comebacks in the competition to knock the Frenchman out.

The injury blow also comes at a coincidental time for Neymar, who has missed several games in previous years in the build-up to his sister’s birthday.

For now, the injury- falling in place of the birthday- will be marked down as a coincidence and nothing more.

Neymar to Miss Barcelona Tie

Major Blow for PSG

After falling at the final hurdle last season in the final against Bayern Munich, PSG will be desperate to take one step further this campaign by finally lifting the often elusive trophy.

To do that, however, they’ll need their best players- a category Neymar prominently falls in. Yet, with the Barcelona game approaching, the Brazillian will miss, at the very least, the first leg against his former club.

Neymar, himself, would have been desperate to play against Barcelona, and on the same pitch as Lionel Messi once again. As things stand, though, he’ll have to wait for that opportunity.

Added Pressure on Kylian Mbappe

With Neymar out of the Barcelona game, Kylian Mbappe will be forced to step up on the biggest stage- something he is becoming all too familiar at doing.

In his teammate’s absence, the World Cup winner can take centre stage on the biggest stage of them all at the Nou Camp. Mbappe’s had his doubters this season. Against Barcelona, and without Neymar, he can prove those doubters wrong.

With or without Neymar, the clash between Barcelona and PSG will certainly prove to be the spectacle it has been billed to be.
