Newcastle Had A Rumoured Interest in the Midfielder

The 24-year old was rumoured to be on his way to Newcastle United in England and a host of other teams were believed to be after the player. However, it now appears he’ll actually be on his way to France, with Marseille set to complete a deal for his services.

The deal would not be permanent. Instead, it would see the midfielder joining the Ligue 1 side on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign. Then, if the French side like what they see of Ntcham, they can choose to trigger a permanent deal for him in summer.

Celtic Could Net £9m in the Summer for Ntcham

If they were to do that, then Celtic would pocket a cool £9m fee for the player.

Ntcham has yet to play football in his native country of France and this provides him with the opportunity to do so. Having played in Scotland for the last four seasons, he has racked up 86 Scottish Premiership appearances and has won three league titles during his time there and made 20 goal contributions to boot.

Marseille Could Sign Olivier Ntcham on a Permanent Basis

Before Scotland, he played in Italy for Genoa as a young 19-year old. Playing 37 times for the club, racking up five-goal contributions during his time in Italy. He impressed enough in the Serie A to prompt Celtic to sign him up.

Now, he looks set to take his talent to France and to try his luck in Ligue 1. Having made only seven league starts this campaign (albeit with two-goal contributions) it will enable the player to play on a much more regular basis and potentially seal a permanent switch to France in the summer rather than sit out this season on the sidelines at Celtic.
