Manchester United Complete Amad Diallo Signing

Manchester United are flying at the moment, as the club have officially confirmed the signing of teenager Amad Diallo from Atalanta. With United joint top of the league, they have just given their fans another reason to be excited.

Much-Needed Attacking Rotation

With so much of the attacking play at Old Trafford going through Bruno Fernandes, the club could use other sources of goals and assists. Although they are currently flying high, their good run is bound to come to an end at some point.

If they do want to mount a concrete title challenge, one player cannot be the only source of their goal threat. When Fernandes was rested for one match against West Ham United, the side looked in shambles offensively. It was only when he came on at halftime that he changed the game single-handedly.

Hopefully for United, Diallo can be another attacking threat and could be someone to give Fernandes some much-needed support.

Massive Fee for Unproven Youngster

While there’s no debating Amad Diallo’s talent, it is a little surprising that Manchester United spent such a massive fee on him. The reported price is £37 million, which is more than Chelsea spent on established star Hakim Ziyech. With just three Serie A games under his belt, is such a large transfer justified?

Of course, United are not paying the fee for his immediate impact, but for his promising future. In five or even ten years’ time, the amount of money that seems excessive now could be viewed as a bargain.

Ultimately, it all depends on Diallo himself. If he comes into the team and starts showing his quality, it’ll be money well spent. If the move does not pan out, the club will be heavily criticized for spending so much on such an unproven player.

For now, though, he will be focused on settling in with his new teammates. Hopefully for him, as well as Manchester United fans, Amad Diallo will have a long, successful career at Old Trafford.
