Liverpool in Talks for Ozan Kabak

Kabak Liverpool

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are in talks to sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak. The Bundesliga strugglers will reportedly only sell him on loan with an obligation to buy for around £30 million.

Should that offer fail to tempt Liverpool, according to Romano, they have plenty of other names of their list of options.

It is looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will bring in not one, but two central defenders before the window slams shut with Ben Davies all but secured and the search for one more reportedly on.

Liverpool in Talks for Kabak

Kabak Part of a Struggling Schalke Side

At the age of 20, Ozan Kabak has been thrown into the deep end of a Bundesliga relegation scrap. Despite this, the defender has been the bright spark in an otherwise disappointing Schalke side- attracting interest from Liverpool as a result.

A move away from the threat of relegation would do his career a world of good as he looks to realise his increasing potential. At Anfield, he’ll undoubtedly get the opportunity to impress in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Joel Matip.

Should the move progress, it could be a season-defining one for Liverpool as they look to defend their Premier League title.

Sven Botman Ruled Out

Despite earlier reports, a move for Ligue 1 defender Sven Botman has been ruled out- leaving Liverpool searching for other options. This could benefit Kabak who will be attracted by a move to a historic club such as Liverpool.

Either way, whoever it is, Liverpool must secure a defender before the window slams shut. As it stands, they have no first-team central defenders available with Matip, van Dijk, Gomez and, even the makeshift defender, Fabinho, all out injured.

The arrival of Ben Davies looks imminent, but the Reds seem keen to add another before the window reaches its end.
