Chance for Regular Game Time

A move to The New Den will offer Evans the chance for regular game time.

The midfielder has made just 10 appearances for the Rams so far this season, and was unlikely to fit into Wayne Rooney’s plans for the future. He made three appearances under the now permanent Derby boss, the last of which came in a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on January 23.

While he is predominantly a central midfielder, Evans can also feature at centre-back. Seven of his 10 appearances came at the heart of defence this season.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to the official Millwall website, Evans said: “I’m really excited to be here.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to kick on and I’m looking forward to starting.

“It’s a great club and somewhere I want to be in terms of playing. I hope I can come here, play some good games and get us up the table where we deserve to be.

“I’ve played in midfield and in defence, as a three and as a two. I like to think that I can fill in a number of positions, and that will hopefully mean more minutes on the pitch for me. Wherever I need to play, I’m happy to do so.”

Gary Rowett added: “He can play in the middle of a back three and start the attacks off. He can play on the right side of back three which he showed for Derby this season.

“If we can find players that have that extra bit of athleticism but also have good quality on the ball – that is a blend we’re looking for.”

His first appearance for the Lions could come against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
