Update on Benfica Midfielder’s Transfer Status Emerges

The 25-year-old midfielder, who is on-loan with West Bromwich Albion, will temporarily move to Forest.

According to John Percy of the Telegraph, Krovinovic is to have a medical this afternoon with Forest looking to complete the deal ahead of their FA Cup clash with Swansea City.

The deal will provide welcomed support in the midfield department – an area deemed relatively weak currently with Harry Arter and Jack Colback still injured.

Ryan Yates was also forced off with a calf injury against Middlesbrough in midweek.

He will not, however, be eligible to feature in the cup fixture – meaning his debut could come against Barnsley on January 30.

Section 54.4 of the EFL regulations says that there is no maximum number on loan signings a club can make.

There is, however, a limit of five loan players being included in the matchday squad. The Reds currently have Luke Freeman, Cyrus Christie, Anthony Knockaert and Cafu on-loan at the City Ground.

Krovinovic has been a Forest target for a while and Portuguese outlet O’Jogo says Benfica have “withdrawn an offer” from Hadjuk Split, with “everything set” for a deal to be wrapped up today.

The midfielder has been subject to interest from a number of clubs. PAOK, Dynamo Zagreb and Olympiacos have also been linked with the 25-year-old.

Paul Taylor of the Athletic tweeted earlier: “Told Nottingham Forest are making progress in their efforts to sign Filip Krovinovic, the Benfica midfielder, who is currently on loan at West Brom.

“There remains other interest in him, but #NFFC want him to help address a minor injury crisis. Talks ongoing.”
