Championship leaders Norwich City have completed the signing of left-back Dimitris Giannoulis from PAOK on loan.

The 25-year-old joins on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for £6.2 million if the Canaries achieve promotion this season.

Norwich had reportedly been looking for left-back options after fitness doubts over Villarreal loanee Xavi Quintilla, who suffered a hip problem and also contracted Covid-19.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club website, Giannoulis said: “I’m really happy to have signed. It was a dream to play for an English team and now that has come true.

“It’s been a busy few days, but I’m here and I can’t wait to get on the pitch with my new teammates.

“I will always give my best. I consider myself a fast player, both in attack and defence. I like Norwich’s style of football and I hope I adapt to the way that the team plays and that I can help the team get promoted.”

Giannoulis’ Career

Twenty-five-year-old Giannoulis joins the Canaries having spent his entire professional career prior in Greece and Cyprus.

He came through the youth academy at Vataniakos and went on to make 34 appearances for them in total, scoring three goals.

After moving to PAOK in 2014, he had loan spells at Pierikos, Veria, Anorthosis and Atromitos.

His best season for PAOK came in 2019/20 when he made 44 appearances in all competitions.

He leaves the club having played 16 times in the first half of the campaign, scoring one – the opening goal against Benfica in a Champions League qualifying match.

The defender is also a full Greece international, having played 11 times for the national side.
