Mesut Ozil to Agree Contract Termination With Arsenal

Ozil Arsenal contract

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is reportedly set to terminate his contract with the club. According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, the German will terminate his contract by mutual consent before joining Turkish side Fenerbahce as a free agent.

The news will be a relief for Arsenal fans, who have seen the misery of the Ozil saga drag on for a year. As for Ozil, he’ll be feeling similar relief as he receives the opportunity to take to the pitch once more in Turkey- as reported.

Opportunity to Prove Arsenal Wrong

The opportunity to get back to playing regularly at Fenerbahce- should the move go through- presents Ozil with the chance to prove Arsenal wrong. Up until December, the Gunners were desperate for creativity, yet continued with their naivety in freezing Ozil- one of the best creators of the last decade- out of the side.

Away from the Emirates, the former Real Madrid man can prove several doubters wrong, and showcase his capabilities once more. At 32-years-old, the German still has, at the very least, a couple of years at the top of his game.

One could suggest that a move to Fenerbahce is a step down for Ozil, who could still play on Europe’s biggest of stages.

Arsenal Freeing up Funds

If reports are to be believed, Arsenal will be freeing up funds by releasing Ozil. The German is the highest earner at the club, despite failing to be included in the squad. Yet, week in week out, Arsenal continue to pay the hefty fee of his services which are surplus to requirements.

If reports are true, however, the midfielder will finally put an end to his Arsenal nightmare, and free up funds at the Emirates in the process.
