REPORT: Sheffield Wednesday Striker Josh Windass Linked With West Bromwich Albion

Josh Windass

Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass is a target for Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, according to Ricky Charlesworth of Yorkshire Live.

West Brom Want Josh Windass Transfer Deal

Joined The Owls in Summer

The 26-year old spent some time with the Owls on loan before joining the club permanently over the summer from Wigan Athletic. He’s gone on to play 18 times this campaign, with four goal contributions along the way.

With the club currently sat in 23rd position in the Championship table (thanks in no small part to a points deduction at the beginning of the season), Windass’ goals and assists could be key to helping them try and battle their way out of the relegation places.

However, the former Wigan man might be off out of the club already with West Brom circling the player.

West Brom Want Josh Windass to Improve Strikeforce

According to The Daily Record, the Premier League side have an interest in his services. The Baggies have just been taken over by Sam Allardyce, who is keen to keep them in the top tier of English football.

To do that, he believes Windass could be a key asset to help fire them out of the bottom three. Despite signing a two-year deal, it appears as though the player could be off already – and for a lesser fee than what Sheffield Wednesday initially paid.

Windass Could Join West Brom in Cut-Price Deal

This report claims that a deal could be done on the cheap, with West Brom needing to fork out just £400,000 for Josh Windass. That’s £100,000 less than the fee the Owls are believed to have paid for him back in the summer.

Windass has been around the Football League pyramid, having played for Accrington Stanley, Wigan and now Sheffield Wednesday. He even managed a move over to Scotland to play for Rangers in-between, where he had arguably the best season of his career so far, managing 19 goal contributions in 33 games as a 23-year old.

If he can carry that kind of form up a league into the Premier League with West Brom, then Windass could help the club stay in the top league with Sam Allardyce at the helm.
