Demarai Gray Heading for Leicester City Exit

Demarai Gray is likely to leave Leicester City when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.

The winger has only seen game time in the Carabao Cup for the club this season and does not factor into his manager’s plans moving forward.

Rodgers Hails Gray’s Professionalism

The 24-year-old has been at Leicester since January 2016 and ended that year as a Premier League winner with the club. However, he has failed to nail down a place in the side in the years since, meaning an expected parting of ways appears to be mutually beneficial for club and player.

Whilst admitting that Gray is looking to leave the club, Brendan Rodgers has praised his professionalism and attitude in training, despite the player’s status as being on the fringes at the club.

The Leicester manager told the media: “It’s pretty clear with Demarai that he’s looking to move on. His attitude to training has been first class; he has been very professional.

“He is at the stage of his career where he has been here a long time and hasn’t maybe nailed down a place. A fresh start may be the course for him.

“I will always respect him and until his last day I will never discard him but it’s looking more than likely he will probably be somewhere else next season.”

Gray has made 168 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes, scoring 13 goals. 12 of those appearances came in the second half of Leicester’s glorious 2015/16 league campaign, where Claudio Ranieri led the club to the top-flight title.

Rodgers Dismisses Agents’ Exit Comments

Suggestions have surfaced that impressive Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans may look to find a new club in the upcoming January transfer window, especially after the player’s agent told the media that there was “a lot of interest” in his client.

Rodgers, however, has dismissed those comments as standard behaviour from football agents on the eve of the market and says Tielemans will be going nowhere.

“You see that with stories around this time, the agents are just starting to warm up now and get a few stories out. So, I am sure in Youri’s case it is no different. He is a very talented player and has been fantastic for us in the time he has been here,” said the Leicester boss of the 23-year-old.
