Reading, Coventry City and Huddersfield Town were latest Championship sides to impress this week. The league proving to be such a tight division this year with yet another game-week where no team’s winning margin exceeded two goals. In fact, Coventry City were the only side to score more than two goals, in their home win against fellow strugglers Rotherham United.

This week proved to be a significant step in fans fully returning to stadia, with 2000 fans allowed back to those clubs in tier’s one and two.

Reading Dominate Lowly Nottingham Forest in Latest Championship Game-Week

Reading continued their brilliant, yet unexpected, start by securing a 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest. The Royals cruised past a Forest side who were reduced to ten men after just 15 minutes when Ryan Yates handled on the line.

Lucas Joao stroked home the resulting penalty, making it five goals from as many games for the forward. Reading maintained their early dominance throughout the 90 minutes and killed the game off eight minutes into the second half when Michael Morrison headed home Michael Olise‘s glorious free-kick.

Victory for The Royals moves them up to third as they remain just a point off the top. The problems continue at Forest who are now just two points off the relegation zone.

Sky Blues Extend Unbeaten Run in Convincing Win Against the Millers

Coventry City made it five games without defeat in a 3-1 victory against Rotherham United. Meanwhile, defeat for The Millers means they are without a win in five games themselves.

Maxime Biamou opened the scoring for the hosts after just five minutes when he slid past the on-rushing Jamal Blackman. Tyler Walker doubled the lead seven minutes later, steering the ball home into an empty net after Callum O’Hare‘s shot cannoned off the post. The win was confirmed in the 72nd minute as Leo Ostigard headed past the Rotherham keeper. Dan Barasler grabbed a consolation goal from the penalty spot just five minutes from time, but The Sky Blues held on to a comfortable victory.

Coventry are now six points clear of the relegation places, whilst The Millers are just two points off Wycombe Wanderers in 22nd.

Early Terriers Goals Earn Comfortable Victory Over Queens Park Rangers

Huddersfield Town claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers, who have now lost their last three games. The hosts produced an impressive and dominant display, despite not having their fans in attendance, like a large number of EFL clubs were able to.

Josh Koroma opened the scoring in the third minute, curling past Seny Dieng from just inside the penalty area. The hosts piled on the pressure after their goal and the second came in the 40th minute, when flying left-back Harry Toffolo slotted home from close range.

Huddersfield’s win takes them to 13th in the league, whilst QPR drop to 18th and just six points off the dreaded relegation places.
