UEFA Nations League Final Draw

Heavyweight Ties

The draw produced two interesting ties as four heavyweights of international football will collide to be crowned the latest Nations League winner.

Italy vs Spain

It was announced that Italy would become the host for the Final Four. And their national team, lead by Roberto Mancini, will have home advantage when they take on Luis Enrique’s Spain. The match will take place in the San Siro in Milan on 6 October 2021.

It pits Italy, who rank 17th in FIFA’s world rankings against Spain who currently sit in 9th position.

The last match between the two nations ended in a win for Spain 3-0 back in 2017.

Italy famously ended Spain’s winning streak as European Champions stretching back eight years by defeating them at EURO 2016.

Belgium vs France

Belgium, managed by Roberto Martínez, have been paired against World Cup winners France, managed by Didier Deschamps. The tie will take place on 7 October 2021 at the Juventus Stadium in Turin.

It will be a match between the best two teams in the world on the current ranking. In addition, The Red Devils are currently the number one team in FIFA’s world rankings with France in second place.

When the two teams faced each other last, it was France who prevailed 1-0 in the 2018 World Cup semi-final.

Belgium have won only two of the previous 12 matches against their opponent. The last a thrilling 4-3 in 2015.

The Nations League Italian Job

Italy will host the Final Four edition in 2021. In a straight knockout structure, there will be two semi-finals by the third-place game in Turin the day after on 10 October. The final itself will be in Milan, also on 10 October. 55 nations started out on their path to glory to find one victor next autumn.

This represents the second Nations League tournament after Portugal won the inaugural trophy last year- beating the Netherlands in Lisbon.
