Tottenham Hotspur Debut for Joe Hart

Potential Injuries

Alasadair Gold of Football.London is reporting that the former England goalkeeper is waiting in the wings to start his first game for Spurs in the league due to fitness doubts with Hugo Lloris.

It would be somewhat a baptism of fire if he was to make his league debut, with the small matter of a North London derby and Arsenal visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Hart has 285 appearances under his belt for both Manchester City and Burnley. The last game he featured in the league was on Boxing Day in 2018 when he conceded five goals against Everton.

Joe Hart: Europa League Regular

Although he hasn’t featured in the league, Hart has been an ever-present in Europe with six appearances overall. However, he has been prone to several errors during his side’s Europa League group stage campaign. This included two glaring errors in Spurs’ incident-filled 3-3 draw vs LASK during the week.

Despite the mistakes, it meant Tottenham assured their progression to the next round. However, they remain second in the group to Royal Antwerp.

Nonetheless, Tottenham Manager José Mourinho has kept faith with Hart. In addition, he has usurped fellow goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga between the sticks to be the regular number two this season.

Big Gloves to Fill

Tottenham are in impressive form in the Premier League, leading the table after ten games with 21 points. Yet it is a pivotal moment in a crucial match for Hart to step into the big gloves of Lloris.

The French international goalkeeper is undeniably the club’s number one goalkeeper. Similarly, he is one of the Premier League’s best in his department. Lloris has made 270 starts since moving to the White Hart Lane club in August 2012.
