Gunners Keen to Add Creative Options After Slow Start to the Season

According to Football London, Edu is said to be interested in signing a creative midfielder as well as a striker, with Szoboszlai, Patson Daka and Odsonne Edouard being identified as the club’s main targets.

The Brazilian is intent on adding a playmaker, after Arsenal missed out on the signature of Houssem Aouar from Lyon.

However, the Gunners did manage to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid on deadline day and Edu is thought to be keen on Szoboszlai as he looks to complete an overhaul in midfield.

The 20-year-old has had some impressive outings so far in 2020/21, registering five assists in seven matches for RB Salzburg to propel them to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga after an undefeated start.

Interest in the Hungarian

Per Sport Witness, Szoboszlai’s agent, Matyas Esterhazy, stated that “Arsenal’s interest is real” and revealed that the player will not be signing for AC Milan despite the Italian’s clubs approaches.

Sport Witness also claims that Szoboszlai has a release clause of €25 million. If Arsenal were to activate such a clause, then it would be considered as a shrewd piece of business by Edu to sign one of Europe’s most gifted young talents at such a low price.

Mikel Arteta would certainly welcome the arrival of an attacking midfielder as his Arsenal side have struggled for goals in the Premier League so far this season, scoring just nine times in their first eight games.

This leaves Arteta with much to ponder over the international break, as he seeks to improve on an inconsistent start to the season.

Arsenal return to domestic action on 22 November, when they will travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
