Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal has been one of the best players in La Liga so far this season. The 23-year-old Spain international has been a key component in Real Sociedad’s early-season domestic success. Oyarzabal continues to find the back of the net as he scored his fifth goal of the 2020/21 season against Celta de Vigo in a 4-1 victory for Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Mikel Oyarzabal Continues His Strong Start to the Season

An Impressive October

October was a terrific month for Oyarzabal as he recorded four goals and two assists in three La Liga appearances. Real Sociedad achieved victory in all three matches that Oyarzabal scored in. These results have given the Spanish club a huge boost in the league table as they currently sit atop La Liga. Slow starts to the 2020/21 campaign for Real Madrid and Barcelona have allowed other clubs and players to shine.

On the international stage, Oyarzabal fared well with Spain’s national team during October as he scored the match-winner against Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League. The winger appears he is destined to be a selection for Spain’s squad at the upcoming Euro 2021 tournament. In nine appearances for Spain’s senior national team, Oyarzabal has scored three goals. He’s getting the job done for both club and country.

One of the Best in La Liga

While Oyarzabal has played a few more matches than the other stars in La Liga, he still has been one of the best players so far this season. Oyarzabal currently leads La Liga in goals and goals and assists combined. With five goals in his last four appearances, he has to be considered as one of the best players in the league right now.

This might be a career year for Oyarzabal if he continues to produce at a high-level for Real Sociedad. His best goal-scoring season was in the 2018/19 campaign when he scored 13 goals. With five goals in eight appearances so far this season he’s on the path to his best campaign to date in La Liga. Not only will this be a personal accomplishment, but it could also prove to be vital in a possible Champions League qualification for Real Sociedad.
