REPORT: Everton Winger Bernard Subject to Late Bid From Roma

Bernard

Everton winger Bernard is subject to late interest from Roma on a permanent basis according to Sky Sports.

The late bid is set to be around the €7 million mark and comes after the Italian side allowed Justin Kluivert leave on loan to RB Leipzig for the rest of the season. However, they are finding it difficult to re-sign Stephan El Shaarawy from Shanghai Shenhua on loan.

According to the Liverpool Echo’s Phil Kirkbride, the Brazilian international did train at Finch Farm today, and talks could re-open with Roma after rejecting the chance to move earlier in the summer.

It is yet to be known if the top of the table leaders are going to allow the 28-year-old to move to the Italian capital, but he has found game time hard under Carlo Ancelotti.

He is yet to feature in the Premier League this season, only featuring in a single Carabao Cup fixture, and could be set to have a reunion with former boss Paulo Fonseca, who he played under at Shakhtar Donetsk.

During his two-year stay in Merseyside, Bernard has played 68 games, scoring six goals and making seven assists.

Roma’s Serie A campaign has gotten off to a shaky start, winning one, losing one and drawing one in their first three games, and are looking for more attacking impetus.

Late Out-Goings

The Toffees may want to get the Brazilian off their wage bill after the signings of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure and are set to be listening to offers for a number of fringe players.

Southampton are said to be closing in on Theo Walcott on loan and Ancelotti is said to have told his sporting director Marcel Brands to accept offers for Mohamed Besic, Yannick Bolasie and Sandro Ramirez.

In addition to incomings, it seems after another blunder by Jordan Pickford, reports circulating suggest Everton are after a goalkeeper in the final hours of the transfer window to compete with the England international.

With both Premier League sides looking for a permanent transfer, according to Paul Joyce of the Times, a deal has been struck with Roma for the signing of Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen on a loan until the end of the season.
