REPORT: AS Roma Agree Deal for Arkadiusz Milik

Milik

After a fairly average season last time out, AS Roma are looking to boost the squad ahead of the new campaign with a deal reportedly agreed for Arkadiusz Milik. According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma have had a £25 million bid, plus add ons, accepted by Napoli.

It is now reportedly up to the player to agree personal terms and decide whether or not to complete a move. According to Romano, however, the transfer will come at a cost for Roma, who will reportedly lose Edin Džeko to Juventus as soon as Milik walks through the door.

AS Roma Have Bid Accepted for Milik

Roma Getting Best Part of the Deal

If reports are to be believed of Edin Džeko exit upon the arrival of Milik, then Roma will be getting themselves the best deal possible. Džeko is 34 years old and nearing retirement. Milik is 26 years old and coming off the back of a 14 goal season. One player is ultimately on the decline, while the other has years to make further improvement.

From a Roma perspective, though Džeko proved his goalscoring touch once again last season, the deal comes at a perfect time.  Milik scored 14 goals last season, just five away from Džeko’s tally, and has the advantage of age to improve on that tally. Džeko, on the other hand, does not.

The Right Move for Milik

Perhaps this deal could be the one to take Roma back into the top four and back into the Champions League. It is now up to Milik to decide on a move away from a Napoli side he may struggle to break into with Victor Osimhen, Dries Mertens and Hirving Lozano all ahead of him in the pecking order.

At Roma, the forward can become the star of the show by scoring the goals to bring Champions League football back to Rome once more. The fee has reportedly been agreed, now Milik must make the all-important decision.
