Alessandro Florenzi Completes Paris Saint-Germain Move

Florenzi

Following the earlier departure of Thomas Meunier, Paris Saint-Germain were in desperate need of a right-back. They went without a recognised one in the Champions League, a competition they very nearly won, but are not prepared to do the same for the Ligue 1 season. And that’s where Alessandro Florenzi comes in.

The AS Roma right-back has officially completed a move to the French capital. He signs on a one year loan deal with the option to buy.

Much Needed Move

Florenzi made 279 appearances for Roma before completing the loan move. A much-needed change of scenery could be the reason behind the departure; that, and the almost guaranteed chance to win silverware in France.

For PSG, Florenzi’s arrival comes at the perfect time as they look to tighten up defensively. The Ligue 1 champions suffered defeat at the hands of RC Lens just last night. They were without Neymar and Kylian Mbappe due to positive Covid-19 results, but, defensively, they were still disappointing.

Florenzi will hope to make an instant impact in all thirds of the pitch. The Italian will aim to improve the PSG backline, while also providing the role of an attacking and creative fullback. The right-back will wear the number 24 shirt in Paris as he did all them years in Rome.

Chance to Win the Champions League?

After coming so close last season, PSG will be desperate at another crack at the Champions League trophy. It will be intriguing to see whether Florenzi can add the much-needed balance between flair and solidity to take the French champions to their biggest glory yet.

Last season, they gained the experience of reaching the final. This season, PSG can use that experience to form the foundations of a potential winning run.
