Burnley Frustrations

The 27-year-old only made one top-flight appearance since his £15m move in the summer of 2018. Gibson struggled to kick on with the Clarets, receiving a harsh sending off in Athens against Olympiakos. In addition, suffering two hernia operations, sidelining him for a long period.

Gibson was then left with the task of dislodging the reliable duo of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski. Burnley boss Dyche admitted that he could understand Gibson’s frustration, saying: “We certainly have and had very good centre halves, of which he is one.

“But he couldn’t find a way into the team, and then frustration can be built on that.” Gibson looked for a move in January, with hometown Middlesbrough interested in regaining his services. The move fell away and Gibson was sent to train with Middlesbrough U23s until the end of the season.

New Beginning

Gibson has plenty of experience when coming to a championship campaign. Gibson achieved promotion with club Middlesbrough in 205/16, becoming a standout player that season. He then went onto appear for Middlesbrough in the premier league, achieving a first senior England call up.

The defender can’t wait to start, telling Norwich’s official website. “I’m absolutely delighted I’ve been desperate to play football for a couple of years now, so a fresh start is exactly what I need.”

Gibson sees himself as an ambitious player looking for a challenge. He sees Norwich as ambitious and stated he wants to get them “back where they belong”.

Gibson will wear shirt number 34, as he joins up with his fellow teammates in what is a career lifeline for the defender.
