Newcastle United Host Talks With Ryan Fraser

A Sad End to a Brilliant Seven Years for Ryan Fraser

Fraser joined Bournemouth as a 19-year-old in 2013 for £400,000 from Aberdeen. The Scotsman made five appearances, helping the Cherries win promotion to the Championship. Fraser then went on to enjoy a more successful second season with the club, scoring three times in 37 appearances. The Cherries then won promotion in his third year, but he found game-time a lot harder to come by in that season.

Following their promotion to the top tier, Bournemouth loaned Fraser out to Ipswich Town. The winger enjoyed a very successful spell with the Tractor Boys, scoring four times in 18 appearances.

His time away from the club proved to be vital, as Fraser returned to Bournemouth in fine form. In the next four seasons, the Scotsman would go on to make 120 appearances for the Cherries. He became an integral part of Bournemouth’s success under Eddie Howe and went onto win several personal accolades at the club.

Newcastle Face Competition from Premier League Counterparts

When news emerged that Fraser did not sign an extension with Bournemouth, a number of clubs were immediately linked with the 26-year-old.

However, as rumours cooled, Fraser was reportedly targeted by Newcastle, Fulham and Crystal Palace. However, it is understood that Fraser would preferably join Newcastle, so that he is closer to his family in Aberdeen.

Newcastle Also Chasing Callum Wilson

As Newcastle prepare for 2020/21 Premier league campaign, they have reportedly expressed an interest in another Bournemouth star. Callum Wilson is the latest name to be linked with a move to St James’ park.

According to the Independent, Newcastle are trying to structure a move for Wilson that will also allow Matt Ritchie to return to his former club.
