The Carabao Cup is set to signal the beginning of a long-awaited new season as 70 teams battle it out in the first round. For the first time this year, in an enforced change due to scheduling, the first four rounds will take place in September.

The first-round games involving League One and Two clubs will take place on September 5. However, if a fixture involves a Championship club, it will be rearranged for a later date due to the international break.

Another rule change ahead of the season, to help ease the tight scheduling throughout the season, is the scrapping of the second leg in the semi-final ties.
