REPORT: Thiago Alcantara Agrees Terms With Liverpool

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara over a deal to bring the 29-year-old to Anfield, according to RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Reports indicate that Thiago has informed teammates of his impending departure from Bavaria, and has already found a house in Liverpool. However, the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.

Bayern Midfielder Pushing for the Move

The latest developments indicate that any deal to bring Thiago to Merseyside is progressing swiftly. The player has only ten months left on his contract with the German champions, who are willing to facilitate a transfer away. Bayern want to avoid losing the midfielder on a free transfer next summer.

In spite of recent progress, the deal is far from being completed at this stage. Liverpool have reached an agreement with Thiago over a four-year contract, but negotiations between the two clubs over a transfer fee have yet to be completed.

Bayern Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is expecting his club to recoup a fee of around €30 million for the midfield playmaker.

Where Will Thiago Fit in at Anfield?

Thiago has spoken openly in the past of his admiration for Liverpool. The Spain midfielder has also indicated a desire to play under Jurgen Klopp.

It now seems as if the player will get his wish. The question of how Klopp will fit a player of Thiago’s creative talents into his side will be asked if and when the move goes through.

Thiago played the full 90 minutes of Bayern’s recent Champions League thrashing of Barcelona in Lisbon and reaffirmed his value to potential suitors this summer.

Liverpool seem to have acted quickly in response to that performance, and appear keen to get a deal over the line before other clubs in Europe show any interest.

Signing Thiago will throw question marks over the future of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the Reds are still working on a new contract for the 29-year-old.
