Norwich City Announce Kieran Dowell Signing

Kieran Dowell

Norwich City have officially unveiled the signing of England U21 international Kieran Dowell for an undisclosed fee. The former Everton man spent last season in the Championship with Wigan Athletic, scoring five goals and assisting a further three.

Kieran Dowell Deal Officially Announced

A Deal That Suits Both Parties

The deal, with Norwich now in the Championship, makes perfect sense for both parties. The Canaries are looking to bounce straight back up, and Dowell is seeking first-team football, making this deal the ultimate match. The former Wigan loanee becomes Norwich’s seventh signing in preparation for next season’s Championship campaign.

Dowell joins Matthew Dennis, Sebastian Soto, Bali Mumba, Przemyslaw Placheta and Jacob Sorensen as new Norwich signings ahead of the new season. The Canaries have certainly laid down a marker to the rest of the Championship ahead of next season, and ahead of the battle for promotion.

Signings Coming in as Potential Replacements?

After suffering relegation from the Premier League, Norwich could be set to lose several key players. Todd Cantwell, at just 22 years old, may be unwilling to spend a season in England’s second division and away from the Premier League.

The signing of Dowell could well be an indicator of Cantwell’s future at Norwich City. Both players take up similar roles in midfield; Dowell, also a young midfielder, could eventually replace Cantwell depending on how the transfer window plays out.

Either way, it seems as though Norwich are prepared for both scenarios. If Cantwell were to leave, Dowell would be the natural replacement; if he stays put, a deadly midfield duo could be formed between the two youngsters.

So far, so good from Norwich City, who look more prepared than ever to bounce straight back up to the so-called promised land.
