Brighton & Hove Albion have emerged as the frontrunners to sign departing Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana on a free transfer, according to  The Times’ Paul Joyce.

Leaving as a Champion

Lallana, who along with his teammates, celebrated the Reds’ Premier League title success on Wednesday night, is thought to have played his last game for the club. He will not travel to Newcastle United on Sunday for the champions’ final match of the season.

The former Southampton man joined Liverpool in 2014 for around £25 million and was an integral part of manager Jürgen Klopp’s early reign, although he has seen his opportunities become less and less frequent in recent seasons. He leaves the club having scored 22 goals and supplied 22 assists in 178 appearances.

It has been an emotional 48 hours of farewells following the jubilation of Wednesday night for Lallana, pictures emerged from Melwood with the departing midfielder saying his goodbyes on Friday.

According to another report in The Telegraph, Brighton manager Graham Potter has held discussions with the former England international, and negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Having made 15 appearances for the Premier League champions this season, there is little doubt Lallana still has plenty to offer at the top level. Should Brighton be the club to land his services, they will undoubtedly be very happy with themselves.

Despite Lallana, having had his injury problems in the past that, he’s been available for much of this season for Liverpool and Brighton boss Potter, should be doing everything he can to try to get this deal over the line.
