Top Four Hope for Tottenham Hotspur as West Ham United Look Down

Top Four Hope

There is still top four hope for Tottenham Hotspur as West Ham United lose again.

Tottenham made four changes to the side that drew with Manchester United. Steven Bergwign was dropped for the returning Lucas Moura, who missed the United game with a minor head injury. Dele Alli returned from suspension with Giovani Lo Celso replacing Harry Winks in midfield.
West Ham made two changes with Ryan Fredericks and Fabian Balbuena coming in for Felipe Anderson and Jeremy Ngakia.

Top Four Hope for Spurs as West Ham Look Down

Spurs Looking Up, West Ham Not Yet Down and Out

West Ham United were better than they were in their defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jarrod Bowen worked hard up front but they were lacking any cutting edge. Pablo Fornals wasted a glorious chance against Wolves and was again poor tonight.

Both teams set up with wing backs and the most likely route to goal looked to be through either Serge Aurier at right wing back for Spurs or Aaron Cresswell on the left for West Ham.

Lucas Moura tested Luka Fabianski with a strong shot before Declan Rice had a good shot blocked by Eric Dier. Ultimately, Tottenham were the better team.

Never Write off Harry Kane

Harry Kane didn’t have a single touch in the penalty area against Manchester United. The critics came out in force to suggest his injuries are catching up with him. West Ham made the same mistake and already a goal to the good, the superb Lo Celso picked up the ball, Heung-Min Son played a perfect ball to Harry Kane and he did what Harry Kane does. He only needs one more goal to match Sergio Aguero’s Premier League tally.

West Ham United Need Results

West Ham United tend to up their game when they play against Tottenham Hotspur. There were signs of improvement from the defeat to Wolves. That improvement is little solace for David Moyes. Next up is Chelsea for West Ham and the situation looks perilous.

Strength in Depth at Last for Jose Mourinho

Tottenham have had their fair share of injuries this season. The enforced break may have given Jose Mourinho the little bit of help he needs. Lucas Moura was back tonight but to be able to bring on Erik Lamela, who was strong again, Steven Bergwijn who was strong and positive and Harry Winks makes Tottenham look so much healthier.

Two Teams, Two Different Directions

West Ham have to change results or they will be relegated. Tottenham are still in the mix and hang on to their top four hope. The remainder of the season will be huge for both these London clubs.
