REPORT: Leicester City Keen on Victor Osimhen

Leicester City are keeping tabs on LOSC Lille striker Victor Osimhen in to hope of a summer move, according to reports from Simon Jones for the Daily Mail.

REPORT: Leicester City Keen on Victor Osimhen

Foxes Chase Lille Forward

Osimhen has lit up Ligue 1 this season and is the fourth-highest scorer in the division with 18 goals from 38 games.

Current Foxes striker Jamie Vardy leads the charts in the Premier League with 19 from just 29, but the club would see Osimhen as a long term replacement for the 33-year-old.

At just 21-years-old, Osimhen has a bright future ahead of him. Having already won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and came third in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria forward is certainly a prized asset.

Domestic and European Competition

However, due to the youngsters’ success and ability, Leicester aren’t the only side chasing his signature. The report also suggests that Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton are keen to land the Lille forward, with Frank Lampard’s side having reportedly made contact with the French club.

But it isn’t just Premier League sides interested in the Nigerian. The report also suggests that a move to Italy could be on the cards, with Juventus and Inter Milan both showing interest in the 21-year-old.

Whichever club do manage to attain the services of Osimhen, they will have to part with around £60 million, which is the figure the Ligue 1 side are holding out for.

Osimhen Career so Far

The Nigerian started his career in the Bundesliga with VfL Wolfsburg, but managed just 14 appearances over two seasons.

He then joined Belgian side Royal Charleroi Sporting Club on loan, where he scored 12 league goals from 25 games, before the Belgian First Division side activated their option to sign him. Then Lille snapped the youngster up, but it seems like after just one season in Ligue 1, he could be on the move again.
