Promotion Race Continues

West Brom currently sit atop the Championship with a lead of one point over Leeds United.

They have a healthy advantage of five points over third-placed Fulham but it remains a contested promotion race.

Just seven points separate the four sides currently within the play-off spots.

Fulham (63), Nottingham Forest (60), Brentford (57) and Preston (57) occupy those positions.

Just ten games remain in the second division and it is set to be another exciting end to the season.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning (Friday, 8am), McCoist was quizzed on who he believes will get promoted.

“I still think the top two will go through. I look below them and I think that Fulham are the biggest threat to West Brom and Leeds.

“I love the league, I really do, there are only five or six points between first, second and the play-off places, but I think the top two will do enough to get there.”

Leeds United v Huddersfield Town

Next up for the Whites is the visit of West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers have improved since Danny Cowley took over in September but remain just four points above the relegation zone.

Bielsa reflected on the previous meeting with Huddersfield, a 2-0 victory for the Whites, when he previewed the tie.

“I think that before January the new manager (Danny Cowley) was getting to know his team, and since then they have played like the new manager wants them to.

“I remember the previous match was tough, it was difficult to play well.

“They created chances in this match and we couldn’t make big differences against them.

“I think they are a better team now than in the first match we played against them, so it will be tough.”
