Pressure Mounting For Gary Bowyer as Bradford City Lose Again

Oldham Athletic 3-0 Bradford City

2,000 travelling Bradford City fans watched as their team fell to another disappointing defeat against Oldham Athletic.

Latics were on top form scoring three goals in the first half, gathering all three-points at the end of the game.

Gary Bowyer has been receiving harsh criticism from the fans in recent weeks and the pressure continues to mount after this defeat.

Fans have taken to social media in force, most of whom are calling for Bowyer to resign.

The editor of the Width of a Post website, Jason Mckeown, tweeted at half-time “A disgusting performance from the players. Finished. Has to go.”

A truly dismal first half left Bradford City with a lot to do.

Oldham opened the scoring with Zak Dearnley pouncing on a slip by Anthony O’Connor.

Jonny Smith went on to double Latic’s lead, easily cutting through City’s defence.

Substitute Mohamed Maouche took his chance to increase the lead just before halftime.

The void left by James Vaughan and Eoin Doyle meant that Gary Bowyer had limited options from the bench.

In spite of this, Bowyer tried replacing Jake Reeves and Paudie O’Connor with Shay McCarten and, new signing, Dylan Mottley-Henry.

However, the two substitutes struggled to make an impact and the poor performance continued.

The Bantams improved marginally by not conceding a goal in the second half, a small crumb of comfort to the away fans.

A lack of attacking threat is evident within the team, however, today the Bantams struggled in every aspect.

Bradford City’s Terrible Run Continues

The performances are just as worrying as the results, with Bradford managing just two shots on target in over 270 minutes of football.

The performance at Oldham also showed how weak the side is after having just five shots compared to Oldham’s 26.

Not to mention, that the Bantams are set to face a revived Grimbsy Town next.

It is becoming a dire situation for Bradford City as today’s defeat against Oldham see’s them slip out of the play-off places and Gary Bowyer faces yet more devastating criticism.
