Banks Makes The Move South

Scottish youngster Banks has made the move south to Crystal Palace, joining the Eagles on a three-year contract.

The 18-year-old is highly-regarded, despite only making a handful of appearances for former club Dundee United.

He impressed while out on loan at Clyde FC last season, where he scored one goal in 12 appearances.

While it is likely that he will initially link up with the Crystal Palace U23’s side, Banks said that he has aspirations of playing in the Premier League when speaking to the Crystal Palace website.

“There’s no bigger stage I’d want to play on,” he said. “It’s a big step up coming from Scotland.

“When you hear about that interest [from Crystal Palace], you want to pursue that, and push myself to the highest level. So it was a no-brainer that this was the place for me.”

Sam Woods Goes To Scotland

Meanwhile, centre-back Sam Woods has joined Hamilton Academical on loan until the end of the season.

It will prove vital experience for the 21-year-old, who has been on the fringes of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the past year.

Speaking about his arrival, Woods said:”I’m very happy to be here, everyone’s been very welcoming.

“I’m expecting the Scottish Premiership to be much more physical than down south but I won’t know until my first game.

It was Hamilton manager Brian Woods that persuaded him to make the move to Scotland. He said: “I had interest from League 1 & 2 in England but the gaffer was top class in how he sold the club to me. His vision and enthusiasm of this club is one of the main reasons I chose Hamilton.
