‘It is a Good Point’

The Forest boss passionately called for his side’s supporters to back him after a frustrating 1-1 draw with Reading on Wednesday night.

Forest had dominated most of the proceedings in the first half but were unable to open the scoring.

It took until the 80th minute for the deadlock to be broken; Lewis Grabban sliding the ball over the line after Sammy Ameobi’s initial effort went wayward.

The Royals responded quickly though and levelled three minutes later through substitute Sam Baldock.

Speaking afterwards, Lamouchi said to BBC Nottingham: “I am so proud about the way we play. We try to control the game and we did the hardest thing, to score.

“I felt the stadium is disappointed, the dressing room is disappointed, the players are disappointed. We have 18 games to play, the Championship is so tough, so long, so difficult.

“It is a very good point against a very good team, very organised. They create a lot of problems, they didn’t give us too much space but we score in a good time – unfortunately, they scored in a wrong time for us.

“My players deserved the victory today because we controlled the game, we tried more but unfortunately, it was not enough – it was our mistake [for the goal] but we keep going. We have a lot of games to play.”

On whether the result has hampered Forest’s chances of maintaining a push for promotion, Lamouchi added: “I saw them at the end of the game so disappointed. I spoke to them and said ‘you cannot be like that’.

“After Millwall, yes; after Sheffield Wednesday, yes; after Cardiff and Middlesbrough, yes. But not tonight.

“But also, for the fans – with a victory it was not done. We have 18 games to play, we need the full support and tonight it was so good, so great atmosphere.

“We need them until the end.

“We need to trust in ourselves and work hard like they are doing. We cannot give up. The performance tonight was very positive for me.”
