Barcelona Transfer Rumours: Rodrigo Moreno, Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona

Barcelona is looking for a striker after the injury to Luis Suarez, and that has them all over the transfer rumour mill.  The Uruguayan had surgery on his knee just over a week ago and is expected to be out for around four months.  So Barcelona is looking at a number of different options to try and replace Suarez’s production.

Barcelona Transfer Rumours

Rodrigo Moreno

Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno has been rumoured to be leaving Valencia seemingly every time the window opens.  After almost going to Atletico Madrid in the summer, it looks like Jorge Mendes’s client could be heading to Barca.  That is if Valencia decides they want to entertain Barcelona’s price.

According to MARCA, Barcelona would like to sign Moreno, but Valencia’s €60 million asking price is far too high for Barca.  Marca believes Barcelona wouldn’t even be interesting as going as low as €40 million.  They think negotiations for Rodrigo would only be serious if Valencia considered loaning him out.

And it’s not likely that Valencia would even consider loaning him out.  They’re still alive in the Champions League, and fighting to get back into the top four.  Loaning out their best player and top goalscorer would seem pretty dumb at this stage.

Lautaro & The Giants

So if Barcelona isn’t going to sign Rodrigo, then AS has some ideas for who they could sign.  AS believes that Barcelona could try and make a late move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, or Napoli striker Fernando Llorente.

However, these signings would be short term loans or six-month contracts.  So it’s not like signing either would get in the way of future planning.  But it’s hard to imagine a team so slow deliberately deciding to get slower.

But in the end, Barca is looking to keep their options open for the summer.  Barcelona is after Lautaro Martinez, and want to make him their next striker.  There will be plenty of time for rumours on that front, but for now, look for Barcelona to make a play for a short term solution.
