What Was Said

AFC Wimbledon announced on their website they had completed the signing of the young defender.

Sorensen unites with fellow Brentford loanee Marcus Forss, who is the club’s top scorer this season.

Speaking about his new signing, AFC Wimbledon manager Glyn Hodges said: “Mads is a good footballer and he’s been in the Brentford first-team squad, so we are quite fortunate to get him.

“He played in the FA Cup for Brentford against Stoke, so we were not sure if we could get the deal over the line. He’s a Danish under-21 international, so hopefully, he comes in and adds something to the squad.

“We’ve got loan players in this season that are excelling and hopefully Mads is another player who will be successful here.”

Sorensen fills the void left by Ryan Delaney, who has returned to parent club Rochdale. The Dane could make his debut against Portsmouth this weekend.

Sorensen Agrees to New Brentford Deal Before Joining

In addition to moving to the League One side, the centre-back has signed a new deal at Brentford which runs until the summer of 2023.

Speaking to the Brentford website, manager Thomas Frank said “It is great news that Mads has extended his contract. We have a big belief that he can be a very good centre back for us in the future. He is a player that fits our squad well, being left-footed and able to play good long and short passes. He has also continued to develop his physicality to deal with the battles with strikers that you get in the Championship.

“Mads is a prime example of how we want to develop young players when they come into the club. He started out with the B Team and had a good year with them. The B Team staff did everything they could to make him ready to play First Team football and train with us every day and when he stepped up he did very well.

“He has an unbelievable mentality and a top attitude. He wants to learn and get better every day. That is one of the reasons we think he will develop further and that is why we are happy that he has secured a good loan move.”
