On Loan for The Rest of The Season

Northampton have sent striker Billy Waters on loan to league rivals Newport County.

Waters has made just 13 appearances for the Cobblers this season without scoring a goal.

The 25-year-old has struggled for game time at Northampton. He is well travelled in League Two having played for the likes of Crewe Alexandra and Cheltenham.

He is hoping to kick start his season after a disappointing first half of the campaign.

Waters ‘Buzzing’ To Have Signed

Speaking ahead of his potential debut against Scunthorpe United this weekend, Waters said: “I am buzzing to have signed. I am very happy at how fast it has all been sorted and I am raring to get going now”

“I’ll run my socks off for the Club and try and do as much as possible to make sure we get the three points and start climbing that table towards the play-offs.”

Speaking about his new signing, manager Michael Flynn added: “It’s great news having Billy in. I have watched him for a number of years, and I know he is someone who can play a number of attacking roles.

“He will provide that extra bit of impetus going forward and hopefully, bring the team more goals. I am delighted to get Billy in.”

Waters Ready to Get Newport Back In The Play-Off Race

Newport’s form has dipped in recent weeks which has seen drop into the bottom half of the table. Adding Billy Waters gives fresh options in attack as Newport look to push back towards the play-off places.

Goals have been in short supply and Michael Flynn is hoping his new signing can make an important contribution.
