Limited Opportunities

The 20-year-old makes the move to the League One outfit due to limited opportunities at Pride Park.

Mitchell-Lawson made his Rams first-team debut last season, under then-boss Frank Lampard; however, the young forward has found opportunities limited under Rams boss Philipp Cocu.

His debut for the Midlands-based side came as a used substitute in the league fixture against Stoke City; he also came off the bench against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup this season.

Gas boss Ben Garner said: “Jayden is an exciting talent who has developed through the Derby County Academy in recent seasons and we are delighted to welcome him to the club.

“He is a player I have watched over the last 18 months & the recruitment team have also done a lot of homework on him. The staff at Derby speak very highly of Jayden & we thank them for their help in getting the deal done so smoothly.

“Jayden showed a strong desire to join us which was important. His attributes will add to what we already have in the squad and we are pleased that we have been able to conclude the deal early, ahead of what will be a busy week for the club, with two important fixtures at the Mem.”

Mitchell-Lawson added: “I can’t wait to get started now, it feels like a new start. I’ve come here to help the team and push the team towards where they want to be at the end of the season and that’s what I hope I can do.”

He continued: “I spoke to the manager and he has been so welcoming. He has given me the confidence I’ve needed to get into the team and start playing in the team.

“I saw how well they were playing and I hope to help them push on.”
