Jones sparkled in Liverpool’s central midfield. He dominated alongside Adam Lallana and Pedro Chirivella. He was tenacious, physical and excellent on the ball throughout the game. Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the young man who put in a performance; wise beyond his young years.

Jones capped a wonderful performance with a stunning goal the local lad could only have dreamed off. His shot curled beautifully over Jordan Pickford in front of 8,500 Everton fans. Anfield erupted and you could see how much it meant to Jones who grew up supporting Liverpool. His future looks increasingly bright. Klopp may even want to use him more in the coming weeks with Liverpool severely lacking numbers in central midfield. With Fabinho and now James Milner injured, Jones could see his game time increased in the next few weeks.

He is increasingly mature for his young age having to battle several things in his life including illness. In his own words after the game, Jones noted “I think for me, being a young lad, a local lad and playing for the team that I love and the fans that I love, it’s massive”

Jones Looking to Emulate The Likes Of Trent Alexander-Arnold

Following his standout performance against Everton, the young midfielder will be looking to push closer to the senior first team. He has plenty of competition but Jurgen Klopp certainly sees him as part of Liverpool’s future.

Jones will now try to emulate the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold in making a name for themselves in the Premier League and the European stage. However, while his time won’t be immediate, he will forever be in Liverpool folklore for his stunning goal. He is only going to get better under Klopp and certainly will be a fixture in the Liverpool midfield in years to come.

A bright future lies ahead for the midfield enforcer, but the young man will certainly savour the moment. A terrific performance and certainly his best is yet to come.
