Nottingham Forest appear to have been dealt a pre-Christmas transfer blow amid their interest in Glenn Murray.

Lack Of Goals

Forest are understood to be targetting Brighton’s Glenn Murray ahead of the January transfer window.

It is believed boss Sabri Lamouchi has placed Murray high on his shortlist with a lack of goals worrying the Reds boss.

Lewis Grabban is enjoying a fruitful spell in front of goal with ten goals to his name in 21 matches.

However, with Forest fighting for a Sky Bet Championship play-off spot, Lamouchi is keen to see his side produce more goals.

Murray has started only three times in the Premier League this season, making eight appearances from the bench.

But the Athletic claim (via Nottingham Post) Murray is “as happy as he has ever been, despite not playing” suggesting he may not be seeking a switch to the City Ground.

Looking Elsewhere

Lamouchi is also reportedly interested in signing Southampton striker Che Adams and Dwight Gayle.

Forest are desperately looking to bolster their firepower having become too reliant on Reds top-scorer Grabban.

Rafa Mir is the only back-up option to Grabban and, with no goals to his name, Lamouchi is searching for alternatives.

According to the Athletic (via Nottingham Post) 23-year-old Adams is high on Lamouchi’s hit-list.

Forest are also reportedly keen on Newcastle United’s Gayle, although interest appears to have died now recently.

The striker has fallen down the pecking order at St James’ Park; yet Forest are still likely to face competition for his services if Magpies boss Steve Bruce allows his departure.

Gayle found red-hot form when on-loan at West Brom last season but a substantial fee and high wages could provide a stumbling block.

The 29-year-old retains interest from his temporary employers.
