Liverpool’s Edge Out Genk

Fabinho’s Return To The Starting Line Up Key To Their Victory

Liverpool’s latest victory was routine with some nervy moments towards the end. But the game belonged to Fabinho who returned to the starting eleven. The Brazilian was outstanding in the heart of the Liverpool midfield breaking downplay and setting up attacks. He was the dominant figure in the contest with Genk struggling to get attack the Liverpool backline until the latter stages.

Naby Keita also had an excellent game with the Guinean international beginning to show why Liverpool spent over 50 million to bring him to Anfield. He was industrious, confident and formed a good understanding with Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Is Making Up for Lost Time

Match-winner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also had a very good night as he notched the deceive winner. The Englishman was excellent throughout the match and crucially bagged a third goal in two games. Oxlade-Chamberlain thrived playing further forward having begun his career as a winger. His tenacious play was rewarded as he makes up for lost time having spent most of his Liverpool career injured. He has been patient for his opportunities, and he is certainly taking them. Jurgen Klopp could well give Oxlade-Chamberlain a start against Manchester City. He has come into the thoughts of the manager with Liverpool’s midfield positions very much up for grabs. Jurgen Klopp certainly has some positive selection issues with many of his players desperate to prove their worth.

The never say die attitude was on show once again as they ground out the result against Genk. The midfield three were excellent and certainly, Klopp will be assessing his squad ahead of that crucial title clash with Manchester City on Sunday. Fabinho certainly looks like he will start after his dominant performance but the remaining two positions are up for grabs.
