The Neymar Transfer Rumours Have Life!

Just when the footballing world began to think the Neymar-to-Barcelona rumours had died out for the summer, they pop right back up.  L’Equipe reported this morning that Neymar and Paris St. Germain were working towards a resolution; with August 10th representing the latest ‘most crucial’ date.

Now if that resolution results in a decision to sell, then Barcelona is waiting, with options, PSG really doesn’t want.  Mundo Deportivo wrote this morning, in response to the L’Equipe piece, that Barcelona could not possibly pay PSG’s price for Neymar this summer.  They believe PSG would have two options if they decide to sell Neymar back to Barcelona.

The first option is a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.  Similar to how PSG acquired Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco, Barcelona would pay a significant loan fee this summer, and a lower, but still large transfer fee next summer.  However, Mundo wrote in their article that Barcelona would still need to move someone in order to absorb Neymar’s salary.

The other option for PSG is taking one or two Barcelona players along with some cash in a deal.  Those players, you already know, are Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic.  It seems highly unlikely that PSG will give in to Barcelona’s demands on those players after holding out all summer.

Juventus Selling Cancelo?

After rumours of Paulo Dybala to Manchester United and the sale of Moise Kean to Everton, it looks like Juventus could have one Premier League deal left.  According to Fabrizio Romano Juventus could still sell Joao Cancelo to Manchester City.

The report by Romano says that Man City has offered Danilo plus cash for the Portuguese right-back.  He also believes Juventus are looking for around  €60 million for Cancelo.  So depending on Juve’s valuation of Danilo, Man City should need to offer something like €40 million to get a deal done.

Now there are only seven days left in the Premier League transfer window, so deals like this will be extremely hard to get done.  But these two sides have been in negotiations all summer so they could get a deal done.
