Everton’s Business

The Toffees have been active in the transfer market this season. Their most recent outgoing was the departure of Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain, which was confirmed this morning. However, the permanent signing of Andre Gomes from Barcelona earlier this summer should go some way to combatting that, and there is a possibility that they could remain in the market for another defensive midfielder.

The other signings of Jonas Lossl and Fabian Delph provide good back up in other areas of the pitch, but the signing of Kean is a real statement of intent. The young Italian is thought to be one of the hottest prospects in Europe and at just 19-years-old, he has plenty of time to improve too.

At the weekend, the club also confirmed that they had put in a bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. The initial bid, though, reported to be £52 million, was rejected by Palace. Everton then denied that a second offer, this time a player-plus-cash deal, had been made.

In a statement, Everton said: “A bid was made over the weekend, which was turned down. Both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter,” Everton said in a statement.

Kean’s Career

The teenager has spent his entire senior career at Juventus, bar one loan spell at Verona in the 2017/18 season. He made 19 appearances for them, scoring four times.

In his 16 games for Juventus since debuting in 2016, he has scored seven goals.

Kean has also had a prolific international career, scoring twice in just three games for the senior Italy national team. He has also represented the country at all levels from U15 to U21, apart from U18.
