Football League Transfer Rumours

Brighton Close to Signing Portsmouth’s Clarke

Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion look set to sign Portsmouth defender Matt Clarke. According to the Brighton and Hove Independent, Clarke was set for a medical. Should he pass and a fee agreed, the 22-year-old is expected to sign soon.

Portsmouth rate the defender, who excelled last season at £5 million. However, it is understood that Brighton have offered £3 million. Negotiations are still ongoing; however, it appears that Clarke will become Graeme Potter’s first signing.

Dack to Leave Blackburn?

David Kent of the Daily Mail is reporting that several clubs are interested in Blackburn’s Bradley Dack. It is understood that the midfielder is keen to speak with interested parties. Newly promoted Sheffield United and Aston Villa are reportedly interested, as are West Brom and Brighton.

25-year-old Dack has been in impressive form since joining Rovers two years ago. The goal-scoring midfielder joined from Gillingham for £750,000. His value now will have rocketed, and Rovers, should they sell, will gain a sizeable profit. Blackburn will be keen for Dack to stay, but the lure of the Premier League could be too strong.

Sunderland Emerge as Front-Runners for Striker

Sunderland have been handed a huge boost in their efforts to sign striker Freddie Ladapo. The Chronicle’s Sean McCormick has reported that Portsmouth have now pulled out of the race. Unless another club enter the race, it appears the Black Cats are now the front-runners.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross is looking to strengthen his squad in several areas, including up front. Ladapo scored 19 goals last season despite his team Plymouth being relegated. The striker is reportedly valued at around £500,000.

Chuks Aneke a Wanted Man

MK Dons could be in a battle to keep star man Chuks Aneke. Edinburgh Evening News are reporting that Hibernian and Hearts are interested, as well as several clubs in England. MK Dons have offered the 25-year-old, who scored 19 goals last season, a new contract. However, they could be facing a losing battle.

Aneke’s goals helped Dons be promoted to League One last season; however, he is now a free agent. The former Arsenal youngster signed three years ago. He went on to score 33 goals, creating 15.
