Heavy Transfer Interest in Hatters’ James Justin

Premier League Interest

Luton Town face a fight to retain full-back James Justin as a number of clubs chase the defender’s signature.

The 21-year-old is subject to interest from Premier League outfit Leicester City.

The Foxes are reportedly keen to sign a defender who can provide competition for Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira.

Justin, who was also a target for West Bromwich Albion last season, could fill a void left by Danny Simpson if he departs.

Leicester are reportedly open to offers for Fuchs and Simpson; meanwhile, Chilwell, a target for Manchester City, is keen to stay for at least another season.

Championship Interest

Justin played an instrumental role in the Hatters’ promotion to the Championship and was named in the League One Team of the Year.

As a result, Stoke City and West Brom lead the Championship race for Justin’s signature.

The defender has one year remaining on his contract, with an option to extend, but Luton would be open to an offer of around £5 million.

Justin, 21, mostly plays as a right-back but can also play on the left.

Having spent all of his career with Luton, the defender has collated 114 appearances and six goals in all competitions for the Hatters.

Justin first broke into the first team in May 2016 before cementing his place during the 2016/17 campaign.

The England U20 international made 22 appearances as Luton won promotion into League One two years ago, and featured heavily again as the Hatters earned promotion to the Championship this term.

Speaking about the transfer rumours, Justin said: “We’ll see what happens.

“I’m still under contract for another few years at least, so I’m not really thinking about that at the moment.”
