Harry Wilson: Should Leicester City Sign This Liverpool Player?

Harry Wilson

Last weekend Brendan Rodgers earned his first victory as a Leicester City manager in the Premier League. The Foxes beat Fulham 3-1 at the King Power Stadium. The former Liverpool manager was delighted to get his first victory after his side was beaten by Watford in his first game in charge.

He was appointed after Leicester lost its patience with former manager Claude Puel after a series of inconsistent results. The Leicester fans will expect Rodgers to improve the former Premier League champions and make the team a regular top-six contender. Although Leicester are a good side, the teams still need to improve a lot, especially in the attacking areas.

Should Leicester City Sign Harry Wilson?

Leicester have been overly dependent on striker Jamie Vardy to bring goals every game. With Riyad Mahrez leaving the club last summer, the Premier League club has not signed a proper replacement for the Algerian. After Mahrez left, there has been nobody in the Leicester team who has complemented Jamie Vardy in scoring goals for the club.

Shinning on Loan at Derby

Rodgers has a task to change this. He must look into the market to buy a goal-scoring attacking midfielder and Harry Wilson would be perfect for him. The Derby County attacker on loan from Liverpool has been in fine form this season scoring 10 goals in the Championship.

The Welshman would be a perfect replacement for the already departed Riyad Mahrez. Meanwhile, he could also complement Jamie Vardy quite well in terms of scoring and providing goals for the forward. The attacker has been one of the best players in the Championship this season. Averaging 2.7 shots every game, he is quite a dreaded figure in Derby’s attack. Moreover, the on-loan Liverpool player has a knack of scoring long-range goals.

The attacker is quite similar to Riyad Mahrez. For instance, he likes to cut inside and score a curler into the far corner with his left foot just like the Algerian. He is certainly good free-kick taker. The Welshman has scored five goals directly from free-kicks this season in all competitions.

With Liverpool already having a wide range of attacking options in the team, Wilson will find it tough to break into Klopp’s first team next season. In other words, the player is likely to end up as an unused substitute on the Liverpool bench. Therefore, it will be beneficial for the Welsh attacker to join a Premier League side on loan or on a permanent basis for next season.

Perfect Move For Wilson as Well?

The intensity of the Premier League will help him develop his game and reach the next level. Working under his former boss at Liverpool will also play a vital role in the player’s growth. Playing for Leicester City will be the perfect next chapter for Wilson in his career. Staying at Liverpool will definitely reduce his game time next season and will hamper his progress.

For Liverpool, letting Harry Wilson leave would be a good business. Likewise, the 23-year-old can help Leicester reach its goals for next season. Playing alongside two other young talented attackers in the form of Demarai Gray and James Maddison would definitely accelerate his growth. The Derby attacker has the ability in him to take the entire Leicester team to the next level. In conclusion, his creativity and accuracy would add to Leicester’s attacking quality upfront.
