Captaincy Picks

Obviously, one should look at the players with two games for the captaincy pick. Man City lost to Newcastle on Tuesday and will be thanking their lucky stars when Liverpool failed to capitalize and dropped points at home to Leicester. The Citizens could be extra motivated now to take all 6 points to put pressure on Liverpool. They are at home to Arsenal in a match they should win quite comfortably considering the number of injuries the Gunners have at the back. They will then go to the Goodison to face an Everton side looking to build on their win against Huddersfield. It is logical to expect two victories for City. This brings us to the next conundrum- who will get the most minutes for Pep’s side? One has to also keep in mind that City will face Chelsea 4 days after the Everton game. So, it will be 4 matches in 13 days for them so rotation will be inevitable.

The best bets for the armband this week from Manchester City are Sergio Agüero, Raheem Sterling, David Silva, and Leroy Sané. One might even consider Richarlison as a darkhorse. There are some players from teams other than City and Everton with great matchups as well.

Man City to put pressure on Liverpool?

With City chasing Liverpool, Guardiola should play his in form players as much as possible. Sergio Agüero has been playing well and Guardiola will probably try to play him in both fixtures. He is possibly the best candidate for the armband although some would worry about Gabriel Jesus getting some minutes off the Argentine. There is a possibility of the Brazillian starting the Everton game.

The midfield has always been tricky to call for City. Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sané are both likely to start against Arsenal but could Guardiola bench one or even both of them in either of the two games? He may decide to shake things up and play a slightly different system to find the winning formula after recent setbacks. City played at a much slower tempo against Newcastle. If Benjamin Mendy can come back, they may be able to exhaust the wings to greater effect. Bernardo Silva, David Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne could all start together meaning one of the two wingers could miss out. Guardiola might even start both Jesus and Aguero together. It really is tough to predict but if you own any of the midfielders you need to keep them and play them. Sterling would be the best bet out of the lot as he could get the most attacking returns, earning crucial points.

Other Top Contenders

The other team with two games is Everton. They have had a poor run of form lately with 3 defeats in their last 6 games. They face Wolves at home in a very tricky game. All 3 results are possible in this game.

The popular fantasy assets that should start both games are Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, and Bernard. Lucas Digne got sent off so he will miss the first game. Out of these players, Richarlison has the most potential to do well. He scored the winner last round against Huddersfield and also scored in the FA Cup defeat at Millwall . Sigurdsson also could do well. Tough to see them get any clean sheets this week though.

Differentials to Consider

There are some nice matchups this week from the other teams. Tottenham host Newcastle at home and Son Heung-Min could have a great game there. He came back from Asia Cup duty and saved Spurs last night against Watford.

Chelsea lost quite unbelievably 0-4 to Bournemouth last night. They face the worst side in the league at home this week, so one might be tempted to give Eden Hazard one last chance. Huddersfield are the best possible opponents to face if you want to bounce back as well.
