Latest on Karlan Grant, Daniel James, Marcus Maddison and Harry Smith

Huddersfield Want Grant

Premier League strugglers Huddersfield are in pole position to sign Karlan Grant from Charlton. The 14-goal striker is out of contract in the summer and is available for around £2 million. The League One side are keen to keep Grant; however, cashing in this month may be their best option.

The relegation-threatened Terriers are desperate to add firepower to their team. They have scored just 13 league goals this season. They could, however, face competition from a host of Championship clubs. Brentford recently had a bid rejected and it is also believed that Middlesbrough, West Brom and Millwall, amongst others, are interested.

Leeds to Bid For James

Leeds United are continuing their pursuit of Swansea City’s Daniel James. United have been chasing the winger all month but have failed to agree on a price. A £2.5 million bid is set to be launched; however, this falls short of City’s valuation. The league leaders are hoping to agree a cut-price deal due to Swansea’s apparent current financial difficulties.

Academy product James is seen as a big part of Swansea’s future by manager Graham Potter. He has made 19 appearances so far this season. His contract has 18 months left and Potter is keen to extend this. However, Leeds are seemingly determined to get their number one target.

Posh’s Maddison Wanted by the Blades?

Could Peterborough midfielder Marcus Maddison be on the move? If you believe his Instagram account, then he is certainly open to a transfer. He admitted that he’s always liked Sheffield United when asked if he would consider a move to the Blades. It is not the first time he has begun speculation. Earlier this month he directed a message at Leeds and Sunderland.

The 25-year-old has one goal and nine assists this season in the league. He also has two goals and seven assists in cup competitions. Peterborough have brought in Lee Tomlin from Cardiff City, which appears to have added to the speculation of a move. Several clubs in the Championship along with League One rivals Sunderland would be interested should he become available.

Macclesfield Forward Attracting Interest

Target man Harry Smith is attracting interest from around the EFL. The 6’5″ forward has been in fine form of late, which has not gone unnoticed. Smith signed in the summer on a one-year deal after leaving Millwall. He chances were limited at the Den but he still managed six goals in 12 appearances.

Macclesfield manager Sol Campbell is reluctant to lose his striker. However, with just six months left on his contract, Macclesfield could find an offer hard to refuse. The 23-year-old has helped the League Two club’s survival hopes with two goals in the last five games and has been a mainstay in the side since Campbell’s arrival.
